TAKE MY HAND
I wrote this song for my then-fiancée right after I'd joined the Air Force. I surprised her with it when I came home to marry her on May 19, 1983. I hope you and your future spouse will love it as much as she did.
You can purchase the digital track
I wrote this song in 2002. I've never used it for my own wedding, but I've given it to a few friends to use. I purposely extended the Outro so the dance could last a little longer.
Written in 2020, this is a very upbeat, slightly tongue-in-cheek, Rock 'n' Roll holiday tune about preparing for Christmas dinner. Besides the pies, snowman, eggnog and Christmas sing-alongs, this song also pays homage to the Griswald family ("The yard lights blink and sparkle; can be seen from the moon").
Musician and producer Yulli Kepler, of Mommy Called Studios (Facebook page), performs most of the instrumentation, but I've still got a little acoustic and electric guitar in there.

Staff Sergeant, United States Air Force (1982-1990)
My time in the Air Force reminded me of that George Strait song, AMARILLO BY MORNING: ("Lost my wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way")
DESERT SHIELD / DESERT STORM
An injury to my back, suffered during training for Kuwait, was severe enough to keep me from being deployed with my unit and made me ineligible for re-enlistment. So, although I had spent seven months on the Strait of Hormuz prior to 1990, I was not in the region after August 2, 1990 and am not authorized to wear the National Defense medal or any other medals or ribbons awarded for duties during the "Desert" operations.
TRAVEL GUIDE NOTE
Do NOT go swimming in the Strait of Hormuz - the numbers of jellyfish and highly venomous yellow sea snakes is ridiculously unbelievable.
PERSIAN GULF WAR
It all started when I was still stationed at Hellenikon AB, Athens, Greece. Everyone routinely called it "the Persian Gulf War" after the U.S.S Stark was attacked by Iraq (May 17, 1987), and then our subsequent operations "Earnest Will" (July 24, 1987 - September 26, 1988) and "Nimble Archer" (October 19, 1987) against Iraq and Iran.
Athens was known as the "Crossroads of Terrorism" when I was there (1985-1988). It seemed like there was another bombing or drive-by or hijacking about every third day. It was a little tense, and as I found out later, was a major contributor to my PTSD.
When I got to Omaha in June of 1988, I was just in time to start training for deployment. My unit knew it was going to Kuwait when we were issued desert camouflage. Then came my injury the following summer and the end of my plans to change services and become an officer in the Marine Corps. I had started taking classes at the University of Nebraska at Omaha to finish my degree for that purpose.
While you will never see me wearing a "Desert Storm" hat, I do wear my "chocolate chip" DBDUs when I march in the Memorial Day Parade. Due to the timing and circumstances of my injury, the VA has granted me "Persian Gulf War Veteran" status, so I also wear that hat from time to time. FYI: I receive NO additional benefits because of this status.
